As part of our ongoing collaboration with TAYYUN Studio, we organised a new workshop aimed at addressing this question. This workshop falls under the work carried out as part of the second phase of the Erth – Athar Lina Climate and Heritage Project.

Our team and interns, together with TAYYUN, carried out field visits to existing rooftop greening projects implemented by Megawra within the framework of the Athar Lina Initiative in the al-Khalifa neighbourhood. This was followed by abio-intensive rooftop farming workshop, where participants learned how to make use of the site’s potential and apply permaculture principles to small-scale urban farming.

In collaboration with a family residing in al-Khalifa, the team developed an initial design to transform their rooftop into a holistic urban farm, tailored to their needs and preferences. To strengthen aspects of this design.

The workshop not only aimed to transfer technical knowledge but also to strengthen community ownership of urban farming projects, paving the way for more sustainable and inclusive practices in al-Khalifa.
