We knew it by the fragrance of its earth: A storytelling tour through the area of al-Imam al-Shafi’i

A storytelling performance by Chirine el-Ansary through some of the southern cemetery's most iconic monuments. The tour weaves the history of the neighborhood with stories of its people and the encounters of the conservation team with its area.

Tour date and time: Saturday, January 18th 2020.
Due to the high demand for this tour. We will be arranging 2 tours this Saturday.
The schedule is as follows:
The first storytelling tour: from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.
The second storytelling tour: 12:45 pm to 02:15 pm.

This tour is part of the Pre-events of the tourism promotion event "Spent the Day in Khalifa 7". This year's event will extend between December 28th to February 15th. Activities and events will be implemented in the areas of al-Khalifa, al-Hattaba and al-Imam al-Shafi'i. The tour is within the framework of al-Imam al-Shafi'i Conservation Project, implemented by Athar Lina under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and funded by the Ambassadors' Fund for Cultural Preservation.

Chirine el-Ansary is an Egyptian storyteller who has been working with Megawra for the past 6 years on developing storytelling performances inspired by the heritage of al-Khalifa and its oral history. In addition to her work with Megawra Chirine el-Ansary has participated in many international festivals, Taught several workshops in Egypt, France, Lebanon and Syria. She is a PhD candidate at Goldsmith College in London.
