Presentation and Discussion on the History of Khiyamiyyah and its Role in Egyptian Society Lecture and presentation on the art of Khiyamiyyah (Tent-making), where we review the history of the craft extending to the Fatimid era, and the stages of its evolution through history to its contemporary form. During the lecture, we will be introduced to the different patterns and designs of Khiyamiyyah, as well as, its implementation and different use of materials. The lecture will shed light on the local community in al-Darb al-Ahmar, the Khiyamiyyah neighborhood and their relation to the craft and how it shaped their cultural identity.
