Have you wondered about the art of wood carving and inlaying? Discover this craft's rich history, evolution, techniques, and the tools and materials that bring it to life!
Join us next Saturday for a hands-on workshop to explore all the aspects of wood inlaying and much more. We will learn about the different materials used for inlaying, how to choose the perfect pairings, and tips and tricks for creating stunning designs with suitable colours and textures.
Each participant will create a handcrafted bookmark, showcasing their new inlaying skills.
Date & Time: Saturday, March 22, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Workshop instructor: Ibrahim Waheed
The workshop will be conducted in Arabic.
About the instructor:
Ibrahim Waheed
Ibrahim graduated from the Faculty of Art Education in 2017 and worked in various design fields until 2020, when he founded his own business, Oraha, specialising in natural woodwork. He then joined the Jameel House of Traditional Arts Diploma, where he specialised in woodworking and carpentry.
Following this, he began training at Jameel House of Traditional Arts, teaching marquetry, wood inlay, and veneering. He later became the Head of the inlay department at the Traditional Crafts Center in Fustat.
Currently, alongside running his own business, Ibrahim works as a wood production unit coordinator for Heritage Works project under Athar Lina initiative.
