Leather Workshop

The Athar Lina initiative invites you for Leather Workshop for beginners. The workshop will be managed by Sandra Fruebing. Sandra is a German Product Designer collaborated for six weeks with the skilled Ababda Bedouin craftswomen in the South of Marsa Alam. She got to learn about the environmentally friendly process to tan leather with herbs from the mountains. Aisha, Amna, and Om Bashar, Ababda Bedouin craftswomen will be participating in the workshop management, where they will introduce participants to their unique cultural heritage through the process of crafting traditional necklaces, bracelets. The ambitious participants will learn to craft a small leather bag during the workshop that depends on using traditional materials used by the Ababda craftswomen such as leather, shells, and beads. All are welcome to apply for the workshop. We recommend that younger children come with their parents. No previous skills are needed, but enthusiasm for crafts and leather is a plus. The project supported by the British Council UK and Crafts Council UK within the Crafting Futures grant scheme. The workshop will be held from 10:00 am. To 4:00 pm.
