About The Project

July 2019 – June 2022; Prince Claus Foundation – Cultural Emergency Response Network.

A three-year project to design a toolkit representing the methodologies of dealing with water problems based on the experience of Athar Lina’s Groundwater Research Project.

The study focuses on the following topics:

  1. Rapid assessment of the condition of historic buildings
  2. Decision-making processes for conservation techniques to resolve issues of salt damp.
  3. Dewatering as a solution for rising damp
  4. Extraction, collection, and treatment of groundwater for uses such as cleaning and irrigation.

This will be followed by dissemination and training activities to enable others to test and finetune the proposed methods.

The toolkit is available online and can be accessed here.
