Tour Details:

The day begins with a tour at 10:00 AM at the Museum of Islamic Ceramics at Gezira Art Centre. Together, we will explore the history of ceramics across Islamic eras, learn about key pieces in the museum, and trace the evolution of ceramics through Islamic history, leading to its contemporary forms.

The tour also covers the diverse types, shapes, history, and uses of ceramics and the differences between pottery, ceramics, and porcelain, including their origins and the unique techniques that make them distinct.

Our tour concludes at noon, after which we’ll take a bus ride bus to Heritage Workspace for the workshop. The session begins with a theoretical lecture on the stages of crafting ceramic pieces, followed by a hands-on workshop where participants will paint their own designs on ceramic plates.
