The day includes two consecutive events: 12:00 – 14:15 Closing event of al-Khalifa Summer Camp 14:30 – 17:00 City Walk | al-Hattaba About City Walk | al-Hattaba Description The tour aims to present the area and history of al-Hattaba by conducting an interactive guided tour on foot in the streets and alleys of the area, starting from al-Rumayla Square (Salah al-Din Square) and Bab al-‘Azab and ending with Bab al-Wada’ and al-Hattaba garden. Tour route The tour starts from al-Rumayla Square (currently Salah al-Din) and Bab al-‘Azab, leading to the dome of Rajab al-Shirazi and Zawia of Hassan al-Rumi, then to the Citadel’s Babal-Jadid. Once there, the tour continues through the streets and alleys of al-Hattabah ending at al-Hattaba garden which was established by BEC Megawra in cooperation with Cairo Governorate and the Ministry of Antiquities and funded by Chipsy to serve the neighbourhood’s children and women. – Tour guide: Maisa Mustafa. – The tour is organized by Athar Lina in cooperation with the Department of Historic Cairo, Ministry of Antiquities. This year, the closing event includes an interactive exhibit in which the participating children will present the experiences and inventions that they learnt about through the program of al-Khalifa Lab for Heritage and Science, accompanied by performances and a products exhibition. The program 12:00 – 01:00 al-Khalifa Lab for Heritage and Science exhibition. 01:15 – 02:00 Performances 02:00 – 02:15 Handing of Certificates   Event is public, no registration.   The Summer Camp aims to establish and strengthen the ties between children and their neighbourhood’s heritage, creating a safe haven for play and learning through their engagement with a wide range of interactive activities related to heritage. Children learn about their heritage and participate in guided tours, art, sports, craft , health and educational activities that enhance their skills. These free activities are organised daily for two months in cooperation with the Ministry of Antiquities and the participation of residents of al-Khalifa and volunteers .
