Between Two Gates: A tour through the Squares and Markets of al-Khalifa The charm of old cities is more often than not found in the harmonic conjunction of its mobile heritage and the vigorous daily lives and activities of the populations that have been residing in it throughout the years. A perfect example of this magical fusion is to be found in long-established, long-standing, long-lived and time-honored city, Cairo. The walls of its historical edifices tell the forgotten stories of kings and sultans that ruled for a great many dynasties while its squares and markets give an account of the lives of the ordinary citizens occupying them. Let’s understand and appreciate this unique and timeless blend together in our Squares and Markets Tour.
