Augmented Reality Workshop

In the context of developing the creative, cognitive, and life skills of craftspersons and designers in the fields of heritage industries, Athar Lina Heritage Design Thinking School Project (ALHDTS) is announcing its new workshop for professionals, the Augmented Reality Workshop.

Augmented Reality Art is an art form allowing users to connect on-site experience with virtual content.

During the workshop, the participants will learn what Augmented Reality Art is, how you can use it to build a narrative, and how people interact with it. You will also learn to understand the medium, and how you can integrate it into your current work and projects. We will discuss the potentials of Augmented Reality Art with a special focus on heritage.

Participants will learn a lot about the history of al-Khalifa neighbourhood and its most prominent sites through condensed research. We will look at the potential of creating Augmented Reality works with a variety of media, where participants will have the chance to work on designing projects in the historic area of al-Khalifa, using different techniques, Graffiti for example. Participants will also have the chance to implement their artwork in different places of al-Khalifa street using AR technology.

This workshop is open to all types of Digital and Non-digital artists, designers, architects, and storytellers, and creatives interested in using Augmented Reality.

Saturday, May 22nd: 10:00 am to 03:00 pm.

Sunday, May 23rd: 04:00 pm to 07:00 pm.

Monday, May 24th: 04:00 pm to 07:00 pm.

Saturday, May 29th: 10:00 am to 03:00 pm.

Sunday, May 30th: 04:00 pm to 07:00 pm.

Monday, Jun 1st: 04:00 pm to 07:00 pm.

Eligibility Criteria:

- Age: 18 – 35.

- The ability to create any form of digital content.

- The ability to bring your personal computer to use during the workshop.

- Basic comprehension of the English Language since the workshop will be conducted in English.

Participation fees: 1200 EGP

About the Instructor

Agnes Michalczyk is a visual artist living and working in Cairo. Graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig she taught 2012-2019 at the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Arts at the German University in Cairo. Her work is exploring the urban space of Cairo through a female perspective. She has been working on the idea of the body as the territory connecting the personal experience and the public space, the surface between the inside and the outside. She works in various media, painting, drawing, and collage between 2012-2016 mainly focusing on Street Art, contributing to different art projects in Cairo and abroad.
