Bayn project began building relationships with the people of Qal'at al-Kabsh, its second intervention site after al-Khalifa area, starting in June. A community event was organised for the neighborhood children near the funerary complex of Salar and Sanjar al-Jawli in collaboration with Mansour for Architecture and Conservation. This was followed in July by a four-day workshop with the community and professionals from the fields of urban design, social sciences, history, and the arts.
The workshop assessed community needs and conducted mapping exercises to identify key information and important locations used by local residents.Site visits to suggested areas for small-scale urban interventions aimed at improving quality of space. Discussions explored the feasibility and sustainability of implementing some of the proposed solutions.
We deeply appreciate the time, commitment, and effort of the community members, as well as the professionals who volunteered and actively participated in the four-day workshop.
Bayn Project is run by the Built Environment Collective, with funding from the Ford Foundation and under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
